Last week we shared 10 Signs You May Have A Leaky Gut and one of those signs is inflammation in the body. Since we are big believers that food can be very healing, we are sharing an easy anti-inflammatory snack recipe.

Inflammation is a big buzz word in the wellness community so chances are you heard a lot about both acute and chronic inflammation. Chronic inflammation is the kind that can lead to dangerous health issues like heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s, depression just to name a few. According to the Cleveland Clinic, Acute “is when your cells are in distress, they release chemicals to alert the immune system. The immune system sends its first responders — inflammatory cells — to trap the offending substance or heal the tissue.”

We are talking about chronic inflammation here so let’s explore how these ingredients can be healing!

Turmeric Energy Bites ingredients

Anti-Inflammatory Ingredients:

  • Turmeric: Known for years in Ayurvedic practices as the “healing spice” Turmeric gets its anti-inflammatory properties from the compound curcumin. This powerful anti-inflammatory antioxidant is best absorbed by the body when paired with pepper and healthy fat. We explain more about this in our post for Turmeric Milk.
  • Collagen Peptides: Collagen soothes and heals the digestive tract and helps repair the mucous lining, which can help repair leaky gut syndrome. It also helps break down the protein and fat from foods, making them easier for the body to digest. Collagen contains glycine, an amino acid with proven anti-inflammatory benefits.

These Turmeric Energy Bites are really SO easy to make – no oven required and are super tasty!

We hope you enjoy these as much as we do, if so, please share this on your social media pages and Pinterest or leave a review or comment – we love hearing from you!!

Description

These easy, no-bake Golden Milk Latte Energy bites are really delicious – perfect for a pre-workout snack or even a little dessert!

Ingredients

Units Scale

3/4 cup oat flour

10 pitted dates

1 scoop vanilla protein powder, we used Tone It Up

1 scoop collagen peptides, we love Vital Proteins and Tone It Up

1 Tablespoon honey

1 Tablespoon melted and cooled coconut oil

1 Tablespoon nut milk

Spice Mixture:

1 teaspoon ground turmeric

1 teaspoon ground ginger

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Optional:

shredded coconut to roll the bites in

Instructions

1.) Place all the ingredients in a food processor and pulse until the mixture starts to come together. It will not form a dough, you will have to do this with your hands but all the ingredients will be broken down and incorporated.

2.) Using a small cookie dough scoop (click HERE for 1 Tablespoon sized scoop and HERE for a half Tablespoon sized scoop) scoop the dough into balls and set aside until completed.

3.) In the palm of your hands (be careful, the turmeric will get on your hands and can stain clothes – use gloves if this is a concern, we did!) and roll the ball until it is smooth. Roll the bites in the shredded coconut if you like and repeat until are smooth and round. Now ENJOY!!! Store in an airtight container for a few days or in the refrigerator.
