Sharon Muse with Sage & CeleryHi, thank you so much for stopping by Sage & Celery! I am Sharon Muse, the woman behind the recipes and a wife and mom of two amazing girls, living in Atlanta, GA. 

I fell in love with cooking after college and even went to culinary school for a bit. Dabbled in catering before I had my girls then fell head over heels in love with baking and even opened a custom bakery for several years. I also had a sugar addiction so the bakery was a nice fit…until it wasn’t and I have since learned how to control the sugar beast inside of me. I share how I did this in the 5-Day Sugar Detox which is free when you sign up for my email newsletter. Now, back to Sage & Celery…

Sage & Celery was started to help anyone who wants to make real healthy and sustainable changes in their life. 

You see, I was raised during the height of the diet culture – I drank Tab, ate sugar, and tons of carbs because they are either low in fat or fat-free and I thought that would make me skinny. I was terrified that fat would make me fat. And what I didn’t understand at the time was those choices were actually making things worse for my body. 

Fast forward to adulthood and I found out I have hyperthyroidism, I am insulin resistant and I have a benign tumor in my pituitary gland – all this to say, is I’m a bit of a hormonal mess and what I had been doing to lose weight was making things a lot worse for my body. My poor body did try to send me signals over the years but I just didn’t know how to listen.

But it’s alright because once I knew better, I did better. I’ve since learned the importance of gut health and how a healthy gut is a gateway to feeling healthy. And the value of the mind and the gut connection is so vital to our health too.  Plus, I am learning that I am SO much more than what the scale says – I am a daughter, sister, wife, mom, and a friend and that holds a lot of value right there!

I’ve spent the last 5 years studying nutrition, taking a deep dive into gut health and how damaging sugar can be to our bodies.

In addition to learning through my own health struggles, I have certifications as a Holistic Health Coach, a Certified Culinary Nutrition Expert, a Holistic Nutrition Weight Loss Expert, a Gut Thrive in 5 Practitioner, and am currently studying for one as a menopause specialist.

Over the years, I’ve cooked for a lot of people with different palettes and different dietary needs. In my family alone, we have 2 that are gluten and dairy-free and 1 that is vegetarian and the other member, luckily is happy to eat any type of food. 

Each body thrives on a different eating style, my husband is doing so well on a vegetarian diet, I, on the other hand, get very shaky and my blood sugar drops if I eat too many carbs so I thrive on more of a paleo style. I mention this because you will see a lot of different styles of recipes here – but they will all be gluten-free and usually I will add an option for dairy-free, vegetarian or vegan. 

We’ve got one shot at life and I know that food can make a massive difference in how you feel. I want to feel fabulous and to become my best self – and I’d be honored if you came along with me!
