We understand that eating the daily recommended amount of fruits and veggies can be hard, especially if you don’t like them to begin with. We found that making smoothies is a delicious and easy way to get in a few servings of fruits and veggies without having to actually eat them. Smoothies are great because they are convenient, easy to make, and you can take them on the go during your busy days.
Right now we are loving our Blue-Green Smoothie, it is filled with kale, blueberries, banana, and almond butter. We usually have these ingredients stored in our refrigerator, so it is an easy go-to on the days we wake up late or when we barely have time for lunch. We love eating with purpose and this smoothie delivers our body with the nutrients it needs! We all know kale is filled with many vitamins and minerals, but did you know that it is a great anti-inflammatory food? One cup of kale is filled with 10% of the RDA of omega-3 fatty acids, which help fight against arthritis, asthma and autoimmune disorders.
Blueberries, known for their antioxidants, are one of the most nutrient-dense foods in the world. They contain large levels and a broad range of antioxidants, which is why they are a great weapon against aging. They are also known to fight cancer, boost brain function, promote heart health, support digestion and can even benefit the skin!
We used almond butter since it is a great source of healthy fats and dietary fiber. Each serving of almond butter contains 18 grams of fat, made up primarily of unsaturated fatty acids. These fats improve your blood cholesterol levels to combat cardiovascular disease. It will keep you feeling fuller longer, which can help curb overeating and unhealthy snacking. It also will provide you with energy to power through your day!
